Lyford Cay International School is seeking an experienced and passionate French Teacher to join our World Languages Department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in French, French Education, or a related field
  • Valid teaching credential or certification
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience (IB experience preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience using technology to enhance language learning

 

French Teacher – Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging French language instruction aligned with IB frameworks.
  • Develop students’ proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Integrate intercultural understanding and global awareness into lessons.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Foster a supportive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Chair of the World Language Department to develop and refine the French curriculum. Design innovative units that integrate interdisciplinary themes and connect French concepts to real-world contexts.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies that align with school policies and the IB learner profile.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with colleagues across subject areas and grade levels to foster interdisciplinary connections. Maintain open and timely communication with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest teaching practices, particularly in IB PYP and MYP French instruction. Participate in school-based initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the academic program.
