The successful candidate will be expected to manage the Vector Control Programme by implementing timely pest control intervention, thereby preventing the likelihood of vector borne illnesses and their related nuisance issues in the Parish.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the processes associated with Vector Control. 
  • Develop and implement a plan for community participation. 
  • Manage the enforcement of the Public Health Act and requisite regulations. 
  • Review national strategic plan for health education and implement relevant aspects.
  • Liaise with the entomologist at the National Public Health Laboratory on vector control issues.
  • Manage the monitoring of mosquitoes and other arthropods at the various developmental stages.
  • Assist with the vector borne disease surveillance programme. 
  • Select appropriate material, chemicals, dosage rate, and equipment to maintain optimum coverage and results. 
  • Implement strategies to assess mosquitoes and other vectors breeding sources; maintain an awareness of patterns and practices of these vectors which is significant to the timing of operations. 

 

Specific Knowledge/Skills required

  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of Public Health. 
  • Knowledge of new trends and development in Public Health. 
  • Knowledge of the Public Health Law and other regulations relating to Public Health and ability to interpret and apply them to health sanitation. 
  • Ability to supervise and control. 

 

Qualification& Experience

  • Bsc. Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent 
  • Certification in Management Studies/Public Administration/Human Resource Management. 
  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
