The incumbent has responsibility to protect swimmers and provide first aid, while being alert and vigilant in order to provide timely protection, advice and first aid to swimmers and other users of the river who get into difficulties or require help.

 

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

  • Secondary School education
  • A minimum of one (1) years’ experience as a Lifeguard
  • Life Guard Certificate from Royal Life Saving Society Jamaica
  • Life Guard Licence from NEPA
  • Certificate in CPR and First Aid
  • Certificate in Tour Guiding Skills
  • Team Jamaica Training
  • Sound Knowledge of life saving techniques and first- aid principles

 

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms 
  • Ability to do continuous visual concentration for swimmers who may be in difficulties.
  • Ability to swim
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • High level of dexterity to perform guided tours
